Accessories

It is important to accessorize with care.   Try not to have too many focal points and decide where you want the focal point to be.    Accessories may (A) distract or (B) emphasize.   Understated classical elegant pieces such as single diamond studs are investments.   During consultations or during fittings at Simon Rademan it will become evident which accessories would be necessary to enhance your personal design and style.  There is a great chapter on Accessories in The Style Bible.

Colour analysis

It is very easy to "make" certain colours suit you.   One only has to change the colour of your hair, or wear contact lenses, or sunbed.   We do believe that this is possible concerning minor colour changes.   Have a look at The Style Bible for information on "the meaning of colour"

Consultations

Consultations can be booked 1-2 weeks in advance. contact us.  During such a consultation, a basic figure analysis will determine the outlines of your design, and a basic colour analysis will determine what colour suits you best.  We then start designing / creating the most beautiful garment.   Some Pret-A-Porte garments are fitted to demonstrate the style.   After design lines have been decided on, you will receive a price-quotation, which puts you under no obligation.  Consultation fees are payable in advance and are deducted from the quoted price.

Fashion

Fashion trends are often inspired by major red carpet affairs like the Oscars.  There are seven basic fashion-elements.   Where most people go wrong and fashion disasters are created, is when too many of these elements are combined in one piece of the garment.   You can immediately stop the confusion of: Why? What? When? Where?...and all the other "W"s you can find.   To get all the tips you have ever wanted, go to Ordering information  ... or book a consultation with us .

Flowers

Designing for, and styling a bride is heavenly bliss, but a bride without a bouquet simply looks odd. More than a 100 years ago, members of a bridal party would walk down the isle with a bunch of herbs and spices (to keep the evil spirits away)!  Today, I am glad to say, it is with flowers, and flowers have a language of their own.  The Victorians made an art of it…read more

Hair
It is extremely important to always watch the condition of one's hair.   Simon Rademan's advice is to try and stick to one's hairdresser for at least 4-6 sessions, and not to chop and change after every cut or treatment.   For special occasions a slight or even a dramatic change is strongly suggested, but insisting on a proof is recommended.   It is the ideal opportunity for one to be advised by specialists in the field. Simon Rademan only refers the best in the trade, and after almost three decades in fashion he now has the expertise to advise and to make a referral.

Make-up

Even if you don't wear any make-up at all, please read the following statement:   It is our experience after more than a decade in the feminine world of beauty that some form of make-up is often necessary.   If a photo is taken, it becomes a memory...  but most of all it becomes evidence of a more beautiful, younger you!   To experiment with the magic of illusion is to strive for perfection... and perfection is bliss.   But be careful!   Consult with the many specialists at chain-stores about the products that they sell.   Use as much of their free advice as possible and listen to as many different opinions that your time allows, OR:  employ the services of a professional make-up artist for any of your special events like matric farewell or when you are getting married! ...or keep watching the  "Free article"-page for free information.

Modelling
Individuals do modelling for two main reasons:     to gain self confidence and possible stardom!   If you are serious about your future as a supermodel, doing only the basic courses at a modelling agency will not be sufficient.   Simon Rademan works closely with most of South Africa's top modelling agencies.   If you dream of reaching stardom like our own Charlize Theron, the best would be to start as young as possible, to believe in your own abilities, and to contact a professional Modelling Agency.   Look around in local magazines, look for names that are well known and that have enough references, and that are well connected.   Start with the best!   There are many fly-by-night agencies that will use your money to further their own careers.   So, be very careful!

Mother of the bride
Setting the standard for your daughter's wedding day should not be neglected.   It is true that guests often have things to say about what goes wrong at a wedding ... and what the hostess was wearing.   Simon Rademan has been in the industry for almost three decades, and has learned that perfect design for the Mother of The Bride is in the cut and in simple, understated elegance.   If you are the mother of the bridegroom, you need not feel left out.   Your image is our concern!  Go to The Style Bible

Photography and videography
Only the best photographers should be involved in preserving memories of your special event.   When deciding on a photographer, his personal style in photography should impress you most of all. (i.e. what the photo looks like regarding light, style, individuality and NOT what is IN the photo). Remember that you are the client and that his product often is the only memory that is left for you to treasure after 10 or 20 years.   A good photographer can make a cat look like a dog...!   We have been bitten in the past, and now refer only the best in the business!

Shoes

"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot."  - Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson)

Basic necessities need not be boring.   Simon Rademan does not stock shoes, but plan to do so in the near future.   In the meantime there are an incredible variety of fashion styles to choose from and the studio makes referrals.  We do however advise on shape and style and colour...

Style & Etiquette

Simon's tip:   Wear this OR that --- not this And that.

Our clients are advised not to dance on tables, reach for the salt, or bend down to pick up anything!   "What to wear, how to wear, when to wear" is often one of the most difficult questions to find an answer for.   The answer means nothing if one does not know "what to do, how to do, when to do".   During the design, making, and the fitting of your dream-garment, the know-how becomes second nature ... because we are masters on etiquette and styling.   Refer to The Style Bible.

Wardrobe-planning
Clothes are expensive and good clothes are even more expensive.   WRONG!   If you plan your wardrobe and know what to look for, you save money every day of your life, and dressing well becomes an investment in the future.   Start saving money immediately by looking under Ordering information.

Weight-loss
To lose weight is really not difficult!   To maintain your goal-weight is the secret, and now not even that is such a big deal anymore.   Simon Rademan lost 35kg and had the country talking!

He picked up weight again     :-(

and is losing it again    :-)
