THE STYLE BIBLE
- by Simon Rademan
|
Marelize
Steyn (Earle) Mrs
South Africa 2002, Professional make-up artist
-
Shopping motto: Buy cash only (if possible),
buy what suits my pocket & my body and "if it doesnt
'jump' on me, I wont wear it!"
-
Dress etiquette? No stockings with sandals &
never wear big, chunky white shoes. Wear the right
"dress size"... always!!!
-
Wardrobe friend? My jeans & scetcher-pumps
(not exactly a designer's dream).
-
Shoe, heel height? Flat, or stiletto -
nothing in between.
-
Dress mistakes? Almost
everyday! I'm
fashion-impaired/fashion-challenged. Just look at
all my 1980's-1990's pics. It was a disastrous
time...
-
How many hangers in your wardrobe? Empty hangers none! With clothes on around 80.
-
Accessory friend? Not much of an
accessory-fanatic, but I believe that earrings are
to businesswoman what a tie is to a businessman.
And of course MAKE-UP!!! I change my look with
make-up, it looks great with any outfit.
-
Best asset? I do get a lot of compliments on
my eyes and I've been told that I have beautiful
arms and a back (wish it was a back side)!!!.
-
Lipstick? Colour? Pinkish Nude, especially
"Lust" from MAC - goes with anything and everything
-
Handbag? What’s in it? I just bought a
beautiful GUESS bag in "pieuter" which also goes
with everything (by now you know I'm a minimalist)
and I do not like clutter. So I have my Adidas
Sport sunglasses (no Kugel), a small make-up bag
with only a few essentials and a very tidy purse in
it, as well as, naturally, my business cards, a
packet of tissues and my mento's white gum.
-
Week-end friend? I work most Saturdays, so
you'll find me in something black (part of my
make-up "uniform") & then my favourites... jeans -
very casual, but if I go out, I would dress up the
look.
-
A second hand item? Nope!! Not into the whole
Hollywood-Vintage-look.
-
Most expensive item, ever? A Versace Suite
(which I wore once, never did it again)
-
Cheapest buy? A little white strappy top at
Jet for only R13 (on sale) to go with my boxer to
sleep in, when I do sleep in something... ha-ha!!!
-
Best investment?
My Guess bag & Adidas Sunglasses - I use it everyday.
-
Dress secret? I wear what suits me. I'm not
big on fashion. I prefer to be different & prefer
classic styles (not old fashioned), but I choose
style over fashion. "Fashion goes out of fashion,
but style lasts for ever!" I choose clothes that
will last more than one season, wont date easily and
that fits comfortably. I do buy one of two seasonal
fashion items, but I must really like it, must fit &
be comfortable!

Your husband’s thoughts on your wardrobe?
He's always proud of me, because he says I'm
classy, stylish & a little sexy. As long as he
approves, I'm happy!!
-
…and your thoughts on his? I try to update
his wardrobe, without him really realizing it. His
a typical "boerseun", so he needs a bit of help.
Luckily he appreciates my style & taste, so he loves it when I shop for him.
Have you seen my hubby? He's so sexy!!!!!
-
Definition of style? Keep it simple,
classical, stylish sexy & timeless..
-
Describe today’s fashion? Mostly doesn't suit
anybody!!
And what do they say...?
