2019
Sasha-Lee Olivier represented
South Africa at the Miss World competition on 14-12-19 in
London, England - and placed top 40, but not the top 12
(There were 111 contestants). SABC3 broadcasted with 1
hour delay.
Congratulations to Zozibini Tunzi on becoming the new
Miss Universe for 2019, making South Africa proud. It took
place in Atlanta, America, on 09-12-19 (There were 90
contestants). MNET broadcasted live)

The World of Beauty brought us another
instant millionaire: Congratulations to Zozibini Tunzi,
who is the official Miss South Africa for 2019!
The new Miss South Africa for 2019 is the 25 year old Zozibini
Tunzi from the Eastern Cape. She won looking gorgeous with a
Grace Jones-cut “au naturelle” look, and once the enormous crown
sponsored by American Swiss was placed on her head, it looked
far better from the side than from the front or the back.
Entries this year included the over-aged, the plus-sized,
ventured into political correctness with LBGTQ, Bi-racial, and
had an all female women panel and a flapping queen as the only
male to be seen anywhere. 10/10 to Sun International and MNET
for entertainment value but lesser so for not seemingly setting
the same dress standard for each of the contestants – it came
across as unfair to the finalists as design styles were by far
not held to the same standard. It was a boiling pot of gowns
featuring local and international classic, avant-garde, modern,
pinterest inspired, and architectural mixed styling.
The return to a swimwear section, was not well received, as it
simply highlighted the physical differences between the can’s
and the cannot’s. This is sad because the shameless
objectifying of women’s godly form, should rightly be a thing of
the past.
Zozibini Tunzi,
who is currently completing her BTech in PR in Cape Town, lived
with her three sisters and mom, and wanted to show who was the
prettiest of them all. Me Tunzi (an instant millionaire three
times over) will now be moving to Sandton where she will be
living it up in a Central Square apartment. She sees Caster
Semenya as her role model and is a hard-core Marvel fan.
She was a Game of Thrones addict and enjoys eating out.
She will (t.b.c) go on to represent South
Africa at the Miss Universe competition for 2019 in
Seoul, South Korea … or the Philippines … or Rio de Janeiro.
(no announcement has been made yet). Nor what is next for first
runner-up, Sasha-Lee Olivier.
