Royal Bride:
Meghan Markle
She is now referred to
as Her Royal Highness, Princess Harry of Wales.
They will officially
be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Megan Markle wore an off white wedding gown with
exquisitely embroidered flower finish around the cathedral veil (5m
plus 1m), attached by an exquisite tiara. This was borrowed
from The Queen's collection, dating1932 and used to belang to Queen
Mary. The very elegant wedding gown is a simple
long-sleeved dress with a boat neck by Clare Waight Keller for
Givenchy.
It was decided that the bride will
walk into the chapel and down the aisle by herself, into the qoir,
where she was joined by Prince Charles shortly before "given away"
to her Prince - breaking with yet another British tradition.
For the evening: The
Duchess of Sussex wore a very classy white crepe satin open
shoulder, halter/turtle neck, flowy mermaid with train - by Stella
Mc Cartney.

It is important to note that, while
there were 6 bridesmaids and 4 altar boys - if below a certain age -
the girls are called flower girls. If above that age, and
unmarried, they are fondly referred to as "strooimeisies" in the
South of Africa. There can only be one official bridesmaid
(called "Bruidsmeisie" or Maid of honour). In South Africa the
word "Maid" is still being frowned upon as raci.st, especially in Me
Markle's situation, therefore the use of certain language referrals
remain prohibited if translated directly. With the increase of
guests at a wedding, say above 200, the number of bridesmaids may
double and the number of "strooimeisies" may also increase
significantly. |
